The development of large scale artworks relies on the development of multiple versions, sketches and designs to arrive at the final monumental work. The small portrait model, seen here as a wax utilised was developed and utilised in the enlargement process.

Below the image indicates further elements used in the development process. These include far left , mould casing for the 1/3 life size version of the pony sculpture, a wax version of the original design composition model, the model portrait and then fragment waxes of the pony model which the artist uses to define enlargement details.
