52 Weeks of Art is an annual artist led public art project in Lichfield and its surrounding area, which has been developed to increase opportunities to produce, view, engage with and experience the visual arts. This will be achieved by developing and exhibiting new artwork, placing artwork in areas where access is limited and by stimulating debate through interaction with the visual arts in its many manifestations.

Image: Andy McKeown

The first picture of Saturday 30th October's 'Cathedral in Lights' Project on Lichfield Cathedral. The event by externalGalleries (Sound Artist David Harper, New Media Artist Andy McKeown and Arist Peter Walker) saw the stunning iconic facade of the Cathedral awash with colour - as Andy's collection of 560 images of the interior stained glass window projected via a kaleidoscopic performance. Davids hauntingly beautiful music accompanied the event throughout. Peter Walker who oversaw development of the project "externalGalleries is a project to bring stunning art out onto the street. We work to develop such projects and the projection onto the Cathedral is a fantastic way to share art in new and diverse locations. We have some major projects being planned and we hope that the Cathedral in Lights has enticed peoples tastebuds".
